    Responsibilities

    SUMMARY

    To provide leadership and technical accounting direction to financial and operational teams at the Califia Farms’ Bakersfield facility.  The Cost Accounting Manager ensures the accuracy and integrity of finished goods, all inventories, cost of goods manufactured, and comprehensive production and operational/financial reporting.  Also providing management with timely, relevant and useful information to allow for cost-effective decisions. The position manages a team of cost accountants and inventory control professionals.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with management to establish and maintain accurate reporting of product costs and margins and similar management reports to improve operations
    • Provide high customer service and financial analysis support to various departments to assist with the improvement of company operations and the launch of new products
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in the areas related to inventories and cost of goods sold and conduct financial reviews with management
    • Monitor daily manufacturing variances and related exception reporting to promptly identify key variances from standard costs
    • Identify root causes and review recommendations with operations management on a daily basis to eliminate key variances
    • Establish and maintain necessary internal controls to protect company assets and ensure the accuracy of monthly financial reporting
    • Evaluate internal controls and conduct value added audits to improve the productivity of company operations.
    • Oversee timely and accurate maintenance of company bills of materials and routings
    • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, lending technical and analytical expertise for the development of labor efficiencies, production rates, overhead and raw materials
    • Document policies and procedures, and educate employees
    • Train and develop staff to boost their understanding of company operations and provide internal teams with excellent financial analysis and problem-solving support
    • Perform walkthroughs of the plant to identify and report on production and costing issues

    Qualifications

    • 5 years of in-depth experience in process cost accounting in a multi-plant environment
    • Management experience of accounting staff in a high-growth environment
    • BS degree in Accounting or Finance
    • CPA and/or CMA certification preferred
    • Knowledge and proficiency of MS Office required
    • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
    • Detail oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Must have initiative, be a self-starter, and able to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment balancing multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Experience with Ross a plus
