    Responsibilities

    SUMMARY

    The Plant Manager for Califia Farms is responsible for day-to-day and strategic leadership and management of operations in our Bakersfield plant. The Plant Manager will oversee plant operations to achieve short and long-range business goals in safety, quality, customer service, costs, efficiency, and raw material usage yields.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist the Chief Operations Officer in setting key performance objectives (KPOs), operational indicators, and strategies; and lead execution to achieve objectives.
    • Ensure performance objectives are cascaded to all Leadership Team Members.
    • Insure collaboration with Plant Leadership Team and cross functional partners through inclusive leadership and decision making.
    • Communicate effectively with hourly team members, individually and in team meetings, to ensure hourly team members feel heard and engaged.
    • Ensure all hourly team members understand all plant performance indicators and receive regular feedback on the plant’s performance. 
    • Lead the production team to meet our customer quality and delivery expectations.
    • Lead the Operations activities necessary to ensure regulatory compliance, manage/ prevent risk, and maintain an effective business continuity strategy.
    • Establish and sustain a culture of continuous improvement to identify and implement improvements in processes, work methods, and process execution that improve operational performance.
    • Hire, develop and retain management, and operations staff.
    • Provide direction, leadership, mentoring, and motivation to build and maintain a high performing plant.
    • Ensure that each department has the appropriate management and lead personnel who are responsible for fully training all positions to create an efficient operation.
    • Provide leadership on the management activities needed to acquire, train, and retain effective staff in all positions.
    • Participate in annual plan development, and directs communication, implementation and execution of operations plans.
    • Collaborate with the Corporate Safety function to ensure employees are working safely and injuries are prevented.
    • Collaborate with Logistics to identify and maintain efficient and cost-effective channels of product delivery and distribution.
    • Collaborate with all support functions (finance, IT, legal, human resources, and sales and marketing) to achieve business objectives and develop a strong, functional and collaborative culture.
    • Provides estimates for order completion, materials, supplies, and equipment needs.
    • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related issues for management decisions.
    • Ensures that machines and equipment are properly maintained to optimize utilization and performance.
    • Interacts with R&D management concerning product design and specifications to ensure efficient production methods.

    Qualifications

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • BS/BA or equivalent in Agri-Business, Management, Engineering or other related field a plus.
    • 10+ years of leadership experience in production facilities, prefer beverage, food processing and/or dairy products.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience as a plant manager
    • P&L experience, strong financial and analytical skills
    • Excellent intuition and deductive reasoning for assessing opportunities
    • Keen insight and proactive ability to identify, assess and manage risk
    • Demonstrated experience and success in managing people effectively and leading operations function in a complex manufacturing environment.
    • Skilled and experienced with labor, hiring and management practices, including building and maintaining high performance organizations
    • Decisive and collaborative leader with the ability to drive performance through multiple organizational levels
    • Demonstrated operational leadership; hands-on management style; effective decision-maker
