Overview

The Batching Operator is responsible for batching activities that must be performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all applicable legal and food safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Blend batches according to the production schedule and batch cards.
  • Operate systems for batching, CIP, and equipment cleaning.
  • Complete daily logs, including CIP logs and batch sheets.
  • Enter production data into Redzone.
  • Maintain dry ingredient logs.
  • Conform to allergen management procedures (pistachio, almond, cashew, coconut, and gluten)
  • Keep accurate records of ingredients and batch documentation.
  • Communicate operational issues effectively with Plant Management.
  • Assist the Shift Lead and Supervisor as assigned.
  • Operate the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Follow and monitor GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, SOP, and Injury & Illness Prevention Program guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with supervisors, leads, employees, and management.
  • Assist Maintenance with preventive maintenance, valve rebuilds, and gasket replacements.
  • Stage ingredients and weigh products as required.
  • Off-load tankers safely and efficiently.
  • Utilize MVP1 to submit work requests as necessary
  • Chemical Handling: Knowledge of Titration or concentration testing for CIP Chemicals (Caustic)
  • Lockout/Tagout: Training for Safe Cleanings of Equipment
  • Collaborate with QA to pull samples and verify product integrity throughout the batching process
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to identify root causes of equipment failure (seal leaks and faulted pumps)
  • 5S experience & Kaizen to reduce waste
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in a processing or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, climb stairs and ladders, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong multitasking, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across all units of measure.
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Primary shift will be assigned; however, flexibility to work any shift is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with high energy, a proven positive track record, and experience operating various pieces of equipment.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English is required; Spanish is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Redzone applications.

This position is classified as Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime) and salary range for this position is $21.00 – $26.00/hour.
